How to Perform a Share Split / Regroup ?

Modified on Tue, 8 Jul at 5:48 PM

In some ownership scenarios—such as estate planning, trustee arrangements, or financial structuring—it is necessary to divide the rights attached to a share.

The DiliTrust Entities Module supports splitting shares into Bare Ownership  and Usufruct, allowing you to allocate legal and economic rights to different individuals.

The platform also allows regrouping these components later, restoring full ownership under a single party.

This guide explains how to perform both actions in just a few steps, ensuring traceability and compliance throughout the process.

In this article, learn:

How to perform a Share Split

  1. Go to Shareholding > Shareholders
Access the list of all current shareholders for the selected company. This table displays the full ownership structure, including share types, quantities, and ownership breakdown (if any).

  2. Click the highlighted split icon
Locate the shareholder whose shares you want to split. Click on the split icon in the action column—this will open a popup window dedicated to share disaggregation.

  3. Configure the split in the popup

In the popup interface:

  • Select the share type you want to split (e.g., Ordinary, Preferred).

  • Enter the quantity of shares to be affected by the split.

  • Assign either the bare ownership or the usufruct to a different individual ( here John Doe ).
You can choose an existing party from the list or create a new one.
The unassigned component will remain with the original shareholder by default unless reassigned explicitly.

After the operation, the system will automatically:

  • Create two separate entries in the shareholder register—one for the bare owner, one for the usufructuary

  • Update the Shareholding Transaction History

  • Reflect changes in the ownership summary tables and voting/capital totals where applicable

You can always reverse or regroup the split later by navigating to the same interface and selecting the regroup option, which merges the two components back into full ownership.

How to perform a Share Regrouping

Regrouping merges previously split bare ownership and usufruct back into full ownership under a single individual.

Click on the highlighted Action button to start the regrouping action.
