Manage Capital Using Percentages (%)

Modified on Wed, 17 Sep at 4:37 PM

With the new feature, you can now manage a company’s capital directly in percentages (%) instead of relying on the number of shares. This is especially useful for legal entities that do not issue shares, or when you only know the percentage of ownership without detailed share information. ✅

✨ Why use percentage-based capital management?

  • Simpler recording: No need to calculate or track the exact number of shares.
  • Adapted to legal forms: Some company structures define ownership only in percentages, not in shares.
  • Practical for incomplete data: If you only know your shareholding percentage, you can still register ownership properly.
  • Flexibility: You can include generic shareholders (e.g., “Others”) without assigning them specific share counts.

☝ How to enable percentage-based capital management

  1. Go to the Companies section.
  2. Click Add a company or open an existing company profile.
  3. In the Capital management section, select Percentage capital.
  4. Confirm your choice. ⚠️ This setting is permanent and cannot be undone once enabled.

✍ Managing ownership in percentages

Once percentage-based management is enabled, you can add or edit owners by specifying the percentage they hold. The system automatically ensures that the total ownership adds up to 100%.

Steps to add or edit an owner:

  1. Click Manage ownership in the Ownership tab.
  2. Enter the transaction date.
  3. For each owner, type their ownership percentage (up to 9 decimal places if needed).
  4. Add comments if necessary (e.g., reasons for the change).
  5. Click Save.

⭐ Tips & Best Practices

  • Ensure that the total ownership always equals 100%. The system will warn you if it exceeds or falls short.
  • If ownership details are incomplete, you can add “Others” with a percentage that balances the total.
  • When transferring ownership, the system will guide you through 3 steps: Configuration ➡ Operation ➡ Confirmation.
  • You can attach supporting documents (contracts, agreements) directly in the ownership change window.

❓ FAQ

  • Can I switch back to share-based management? ❌ No, once you migrate to percentage-based management, this action cannot be undone.
  • Do voting rights also follow percentages? ✅ Yes, voting rights are directly proportional to ownership percentages.
  • Can I export ownership data? ✅ Yes, you can export it to Excel (.xls) from the Ownership tab.

✨ Benefits for You

Managing capital by percentages makes ownership tracking simpler, more flexible, and aligned with real-world practices—especially for entities without shares or when information is incomplete. You save time, reduce complexity, and always keep your ownership records clear and accurate. ❤️
